It is my pleasure to welcome you to NIT and the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). The Department has many experts working at the cutting edge of cross-cutting studies including research, development studies, communication skills, and law in the diverse range of expertise across the Institute. Despite being launched recently; the Department has grown rapidly by establishing both short and long-term new programmes. The prospective programmes are intended to capture research, language, development studies, and law fields. It also has a language Unit which deals with language-related services such as translation, editing as well as language proficiency services. Through courses conducted by the Department, the prospective students are expected to be conversant with research methods and methodology ,have equitable communicative competency in various situations, coordinate and manage developmental activities and be knowledgeable in all activities related to legal matters. I appreciate your decision to be one of the stakeholders of this Department. We assure you that it is the right choice as we undertake these transformations together.
