Nairobi, Kenya — 2nd October 2025.
The National Institute of Transport (NIT) is actively participating in the Africa Skills for Jobs Policy Academy, a four-day forum currently taking place in Nairobi, Kenya. The event, organized by the World Bank (WB) in partnership with the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), began on 30th September 2025 and will conclude on 3rd October 2025.
Speaking during the forum, Eng. Dr. Prosper Mgaya, Rector of NIT, delivered an insightful presentation showcasing the transformative reforms and progress achieved under the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP). He highlighted key milestones, including the training and licensing of eight (8) Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, four (4) Cabin Crew, and eight (8) Pilots, alongside the acquisition of state-of-the-art training equipment and modern infrastructure to strengthen capacity in the aviation sector.
Dr. Mgaya also emphasized the Institute’s international recognition, notably from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). In addition, NIT has successfully secured four (4) Approved Training Organization (ATO) certifications, strengthening its position as a regional Centre of Excellence in Aviation and Transport Operations.
The Africa Skills for Jobs Policy Academy provides a critical platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and regional collaboration, with the goal of aligning Africa’s skills development agenda to the evolving needs of the labour market.
